AM I READY FOR HCQM CERTIFICATION?
Drawing upon over 30 years of certifying experience, ABQAURP has been developing a convenient and cost-effective program to help today's busy professional achieve HCQM Board Certification.

Do I certify as a member or non-member?
Your first option in the certification process is to decide if you would like to obtain certification as a member or as a non-member. ABQAURP's Affiliate Member Program entitles you to receive discounts on ABQAURP offerings including: application fee, exam fee, Core Body of Knowledge (CBK) course, live conferences, home studies and other online courses. Please note: You are not required to become an Affiliate Member. You may move forward in the exam process as a non-member.

Do I have enough CE credits to sit for the HCQM exam?
ABQAURP requires certificates for 20 hours of continuing education to meet the exam educational requirement. Continuing education must be pertinent to at least one of the exam categories. (See listing below.) ABQAURP offers the Core Body of Knowledge (CBK) as both an online and live course to fulfill the educational requirement for exam candidates.

What is covered on the HCQM exam?
Below are some Exam Highlights. A more in-depth list of exam highlights can be found HERE.
  • Clinical Resource Management
  • Transistions of Care
  • Risk Management/Patient Safety
  • Workers’ Compensation
  • Quality Improvement, Management, and Assurance
  • Pay for Performance
  • Insurance and Managed Care
  • Case Management
  • Regulatory Environment
  • Accreditation Organizations
  • Credentialing and Privileging
It is strongly advised to use the Exam Highlights as topics for individual study in conjunction with the online CBK course modules and post-test. Attending the live CBK Conference or achieving a passing grade on the CBK course does not guarantee success on the certification exam.

Do I have to be approved to sit for the HCQM exam?
Yes. When an exam candidate completes the application process by submitting a notarized exam application, sends supporting documents and proof of educational requirements, the ABQAURP Credentialing Committee will review the application for approval.

When can I sit for the HCQM exam?
We are now accepting applications for the 2012 HCQM exam. The exam window is March 1 through October 31. You may schedule your exam for any date during this window after receiving application approvals.

The HCQM Board Certification exam is not given at ABQAURP’s annual conference.

Exam candidates will be informed of Pass/Fail status immediately upon completion of the exam.

To preserve the integrity of the HCQM Board Certification exam, examinees may test once per exam window. Exam candidates that do not achieve a passing grade will have the opportunity to retake the exam the following year. Any candidate retaking the exam will pay an additional HCQM Certification Exam Fee.
