THE EXAM PROCESS

Download and complete the exam application, including your notarized signature and all other required documentation.

Submit the application to ABQAURP with CV/resume; copy of current, non-restricted license(s); and required continuing education, Payment can be included with application or processed separately online. Incomplete exam applications will be returned.


When you have been credentialed and approved to take the exam, you will receive full instructions about scheduling your exam at a convenient date, time, and location.


Take advantage of study materials. Attend the live conference, A Review of the Core Body of Knowledge, for a unique opportunity to learn and network with the content and exam writers themselves. Using ABQAURP’s Core Body of Knowledge (CBK) Online Course, you can prepare for the exam on your own terms and at your own pace.

These CBK program options are strongly recommended as a valuable overview of Health Care Quality and Management. Completion of the CBK course does not guarantee success on the certification exam. Note: This course can be taken in lieu of the required 20 hours of ABQAURP-approved continuing education credit requirement.

It is recommended that you utilize the exam topics as an outline of independent study to familiarize yourself with topics covered on the certification exam. By doing this, candidates are best able to judge areas they are most proficient in along with those requiring further study. In conjunction with study topics, we have also included sample test questions for review. A list of suggested study materials is also available. These resources are an integral part of the exam writing process.


We are now accepting applications for the 2012 HCQM exam. The exam window is March 1 through October 31. You may schedule your exam for any date during this window after receiving application approval. Our HCQM Board Certification examination is given in a 4-hour, single time block and consists of 200 multiple choice questions. Examinees will be informed of Pass/Fail status immediately upon completion of the exam.


After successful completion of the examination, you will have earned the distinction of Diplomate of the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, Inc. Your certificate can be proudly displayed to others. You will also have access to a Diplomate Logo that can be utilized to promote your certification. Diplomates may utilize the designation of CHCQM, Certified in Health Care Quality and Management.
