The APA Board Certification was developed to validate the experience, knowledge, and skills of physician advisors serving in leadership roles with responsibility for advising the medical team and ultimately improving patient care, quality, utilization, and patient safety. With topics identified through a robust and well-defined job task and competency analysis, the certification exam blueprint and exam items were developed by our esteemed panel of Physician Advisor subject matter experts working in tandem with a team of psychometricians.

To ensure a valid, reliable, and legally defensible certification, the APA Board Certification exam was developed and validated in accordance with the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing; jointly published by the American Psychological Association, the American Educational Research Association, and the National Council on Measurement in Education.

Collaborating with Certification Management Services, with over 25 years of psychometrics and test development expertise, ensures a robust certification program. ABQAURP certification exams are proctored to safeguard the security, credibility, and integrity of the certification exam, exam candidates, and the CPHYADV credential.
