Combating Burnout and Recovering Joy in Medicine

Medicine is an extremely demanding profession with an extended training process that promotes continuous learning. Our health care providers work long hours where they are exposed to human suffering, potential medical errors, risk of malpractice suits and an ever-changing payment model to base their earnings. This online course will provide insight related to the critical issue of provider burnout and well-being.

This session was recorded live at our 2019 Annual Health Care Quality & Patient Safety Conference and is a portion of the online course entitled: Connecting People, Purpose & Passion. They may be taken individually to earn incremental CME/CE credits. However, if you plan on taking the full 8-hour course, you will not be able to claim credit for these individual sessions.

At the conclusion of this activity, attendees will be able to:
  • Describe the scope of the problem of burnout among healthcare providers nationally
  • Discuss the impact of burnout on the healthcare workforce and delivery of patient care
  • Outline strategies to reduce burnout, improve resilience and promote professional satisfaction
