Established in 1977, the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, Inc. (ABQAURP) is an international membership association comprised of interdisciplinary health care professionals. Through its ultimate goal to improve the quality of health care, ABQAURP is dedicated to providing health care education and certification for physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals.

Who are our Members?
ABQAURP Diplomates and Members are dedicated to improving the overall quality of health care. From Nursing to Chief Medical Officers, to Social Workers, and Case Managers, Diplomates and Members of ABQAURP are comprised of virtually every type of health care professional, encompassing not only the clinical arena but the managerial backbone as well. Diplomates who have voluntarily achieved certification in Health Care Quality and Management demonstrate a deep commitment to patient safety, health care quality and effective care. Providers certified in HCQM exude superior ability to critically evaluate the literature, identify evidence-based best practices, and make recommendations that balance appropriateness of services with cost and quality. HCQM Board Certification addresses effectiveness, efficiency, equity, safety, and timeliness in today's health care environment.

The importance of health care quality and patient safety has never been more in focus than today. It is essential that all health care providers and administrators demonstrate their commitment to health care quality. In addition to concerns about patient safety, inappropriate services, and unnecessary readmissions, the rising costs of health care and its impact on American business all solidify the need for Health Care Quality certification. HCQM-certified health care leaders effectively address this crisis with accountability by demonstrating their understanding of quality techniques and tools to reduce medical errors, ensure patient safety, eliminate waste and unnecessary services, and avoid potentially harmful delays in care. Quality and Continuing Medical Education:
ABQAURP is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) as a quality educational provider. This accreditation allows us to assign AMA PRA Category 1 credits™ to educational programs. The American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians has been (re)surveyed by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and awarded Accredited Status for four years as a provider of continuing medical education for physicians. ACCME accreditation seeks to assure the medical community and the public that ABQAURP provides physicians with relevant, effective, practice-based continuing medical education that that supports US health care quality improvement. The ACCME employs a rigorous, multilevel process for evaluating institutions' continuing medical education programs according to the high accreditation standards adopted by all seven ACCME member organizations. These organizations, which represent the profession of medicine, are: the American Board of Medical Specialties; the American Hospital Association; the American Medical Association; the Association for Hospital Medical Education; the Association of American Medical Colleges; the Council of Medical Specialty Societies; and the Federation of State Medical Boards of the US, Inc.

ABQAURP is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing to provide nursing contact hours (CEs); transferable to all 50 states and Washington D.C.
